Although the majority of adults ban smoking in their homes and other private places,

smoking bans are more common of residents of urban communities than those of rural communities, more common among nonsmokers than smokers, more common among respondents from the West Census region than those from other regions, more common among females than males, and more common among adults with college degrees than those without college degrees.
